“It’s off season”. “What will you do?”. “Why now?”. “No sun. no sand”. Get ready to hear all this and more if you decide to travel to Goa in monsoon.

But isn’t Goa, which is the postcard perfect destination for so many of us, beautiful in all seasons? Yes, it is. Case rested.

It might not be easy exploring the streets and beaches and everything to love in the smallest state of India during monsoon. But if you love rain, it’s a good time to be here.

Yes, there won’t be sun and sand… but swollen clouds hanging over the dancing waves – definitely a sight to behold.

Yes, you can’t just have an itinerary for days ahead… but that’s when you can have fun with impromptu plans.

And the biggest perk travelling “off season” is of course finding less crowded beaches and cafes.

Picture this! You’re ready to kickstart your day after breakfast and you decide to visit the very beautiful Aguada Fort. You are at your destination, and just when you are set to buy the entry ticket, a heavy downpour takes you by surprise. The one umbrella you have gives it up in the wind. And here you are left standing under the rain like scores of people around you. It’s not the travel memory we may have wanted but that’s the memory the whimsical clouds have to offer. (Meanwhile, the sequence of events repeated at Chapora Fort :))

(Lesson learnt: It’s better to wear a raincoat instead of carrying an umbrella if it’s windy and rainy at the same time. This was a realisation at least two broken umbrellas later. )
